Garden Party

The white table cloth moved, from the night breeze
as the last candle had just been lit
There is wine, red roses, purple orchids and cheese
The night's soft, the fragrant flowers give pause to submit
To glean the depths in eyes between the flickering flame
and reach for love across the table with open hand
To capture a smile a rose an orchid within the frame
and find I've stumbled into a world you command
The sounds of laughter fills the open space
as the moon moves within the sky
We raise a glass to the melting candle's trace
and kiss the softest lips to verify

The evening's breeze lifts the fragrance from the flowers
With intoxication that accomodates the hours

I hope I'm not on your bucket list Debbie, I do understand though you would like to just sit and just talk to some of the poets, some I think would be very interesting others maybe not so much...then again the illusion may be better, sorta like pulling back the curtain in the wizard of oz, not so much a wizard

boy, you make me want to try this contest out now. WELL done!! it looks like you tried to do it with irregular lines to fit this new "modern" form. Gosh, what the heck will I do? I am just so brainwashed to do them the traditional way!!

thanks Andrea, yes the point of this contest was to do it in modern form, I'm as brainwashed as you...so this is what I came up with
