Garden of Eden

Poem for Grandma and Pappy's Internment Picking june-bugs off of roses Watering lilies by the dozen Spreading mulch in the heat of the day Watching a storm roll in - a thunder clap Rain to give the garden life Life began in a garden Bees circling overhead and the pollen is heavy The proud grandparents sit in the shade Married sixty years and had a family Three strong daughters and a tough son They loved with a love that brought so much joy You can see their happiness - you can hear it The whispers and laughs echo through the halls The fireplace that warmed many a soul The flowers bloomed year after year The grass neatly tended to and lush with pride Sunshine and love keep your heart full Like the wheelbarrow full of soil The grandparents are watching over us They loved, laughed, and listened To the sound of crickets and tree-frogs That lulled the youth to sleep Being proud of our hard work Makes the Water taste that much sweeter The flowers stand upright in their vases Like tall soldiers that lined the yard A sanctuary where we grew up Into loving adults with hard work ethics A place where we can pray to God And He will hear us day and night The clouds are pirate-ships and hearts We grew up watching the sky And promises we keep daily - you and I We are a family - Forever and a day We all love with our hearts so full We all will always have each other Forever and a day

A deep touching poem full of love, life and precious memories, with a deep sense of gratitude. Nicely written.
