Fruits of a Poisonous Tree

A seed of wrong, a sullied start, A whispered lie, a broken heart. The law's bright shield, a noble gleam, But rotten roots disrupt the dream. A search unlawful, shadows creep, Where hidden truths lie buried deep. The stolen word, the glimpsed despair, A tainted fruit, beyond repair. Though evidence, a tempting prize, Reflects the guilt within their eyes, The putrid tree, its branches spread, Condemns the harvest, cold and dead. No matter how the branches sway, Or how the fruits in sunlight play, The core's corruption, stark and grim, A legal blight, on every limb. For justice falters, truth takes flight, When dirty gains obscure the right. The poisoned plant, a somber plea, To guard the source, for all to see. ©bfa031325
