From Split Peas To Soup

I brought the ingredients, All that it took, So we could, together, Have something to cook. I opened the package And, quick as a shot, But carefully, Henry Poured them in a pot. He added some water And sprinkled some dill. I chopped up the carrots; The cauldron did fill. The mixture did simmer; Aromas did rise. I added some alphabets As a surprise. At last it was finished. The wait was replaced By the pride Henry felt At his very first taste.

I love pea soup, was brought up on it. I'm all for letting young ones, especially boys, learn some basic cooking skills. So many men are dumbmesticated when it comes to cooking for themselves. Many thanks for reading my poem, and the very best to you in the new year. / M

This lovely poem reminds me of when my granddaughter and I cook something simple together! She takes pride in doing things herself. I'm sure Henry had fun, too ~ Regards // paul

Oh Ilene I really and honestly love your poems, if I commented on each and everyone of them I would be sitting on the computer all day and get nothing done but really your poems are addictive, just keep them coming, this one reminds me of my pea and ham soup I make, so glad Henry liked, happy new year my friend, take care......Vera
