I write for one person and that is for me Eve I am just so lucky people like my poetry - there is room for all of us in poetry soup our unique style is what adds spice to the soup mix. Hugs jan xx

Priceless Jan. The teaching of poetry is indeed wonderful, it's the ramming it down our throats that I don't like. We're all different, we learn at different speeds, and importantly, we all have our likes and dislikes, hugs // James xxx

LOL Robert - I know my limitations with my 'simple' poems but as people seem to like my works and I get reads and comments and I entertain them with my humour then I am happy. I started writing after my hubby had cancer surgery at the end of 2013 having never written a poem since my school days I have been on an amazing journey and it is helping me cope during the most traumatic period of my life:-) Hugs Jan xx

I respect everyone here. I also understand that there are poets who have a sincere belief of what poetry is or should be. I respect those beliefs. I just ask for the same respect back. What I write I no longer have any sensitivities about. However when it comes to what I like in other peoples writes and call poetry...well that is different! I love Jan's poetry, I love Jan and I am happy Jan's poetry does so well on Poetry Soup.

Wise words indeed Armand! Variety in styles and form is what adds the spice to the soup - I KNOW I would not be in the position I am in now if I had not started writing when Bob got cancer - it is my haven here my protective bubble - my close friends are amazed that despite all the incredible stress I have been under I still managed to write humourous poems and make people laugh:-) Hugs jan xx

I love the title, that is so friggin' clever I've got to give you a high five for that one. I know there is a lot of debate between technicality and emotionality of poetry, screw that, if you feel it, write it. If one label doesn't fit, another one will. So keep bringing your awersome sense of humor :) hugss chicky

Jan, let Ms. Maya Angelou's famous quote comfort you: "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." On that note, let me thank you my friend, for continuously providing laughter for the day. I am not denigrating the beauty of iambic pentameter nor the absolute bliss of the poem with perfect rhythm and rhyme. Poetry is the language of the soul. One of pure intent is beautiful. Yours is. Poetry is the language of the soul - wise words indeed Kim:-) I would not critise the sytle of another and it is impossible to compare different works - we are all unique otherwise soup could be an extremely dull place - variety is the spice of soup! Hugs Jan xx
