Friendship Remains

It was a day, not unlike the past When I entered the room to greet my friend Little did I know, I'd be wrong by the end Standing near the teacher's desk, more confident than may be Holding onto a mirror at which I glanced, she was a peculiar sight to see As our eyes locked, the blacks of hers' enhanced Mischief and interest, the modesty of common day not found Refusal of curiosity would be profound A question left my mouth, a reply I received "If we do this together, will luck us still deceive? Will the bad be shared, banished, or forced on merely one?" It was an empirical study I'd not leave undone ~ * ~ Seven years gone by, having both gotten our fair share Yet one thing was sweet, not bitter, to beware Still two remained, though far away as could be A pair that grew fond of their friendship dearly Leading us back to a room, not the same As where our behaviour almost once put our guardians to shame Now I was holding the mirror, with her casually edging near "We're not certain, having but an hypothesis still." Heartfelt laughter echoed as we broke our reflections by will ~ * ~ This carried on, for as long as it ought Regardless of lurking thoughts forced to be fought Thus continued it did, down this path Until one road crumbled, leaving only that One empty room; a mirror intact The experiment incomplete, but their friendship remains a fact

You're brilliant Serenity...I really enjoyed reading this poem... "Thus continued it did, down this path/Until one road crumbled, leaving only that" I quite like those lines... I like how you bring the mirror back and end the second stanza with "Heartfelt laughter echoed as we broke our reflections by will". Great work! Always, Laura
