Free Girl
I’m free, I’m a free girl
Standing here, looking back, I gave it a whirl
When I had nowhere to turn no place to run
The mountains before me I looked to the sun
I followed the light
So brilliant and bright
Despite the fight
I got through the night
I’m free, I’m a free girl
So happy I decided to give it a whirl
It’s all behind
I’d never thought I’d find
The peace inside
I can’t deny
That I’m free, I’m a free girl
So happy I decided to give it a whirl
Now I’m dancing round and round
And the shadows can’t be found
From the past, the battle scars, they don’t last
I won the fight
I stood for what was right
It’s been a long flight
Through the storm I almost lost sight
Of your brilliant light
The rays they touched my soul
When I wanted to fold
My spirit came alive
You whispered I would survive
Now I’m free, I’m a free girl
So happy that I gave it a whirl
And stood on the words you put in my heart
That was your plan right from the start
To bring me through the trial
To make me new, like a child
And now I’m free, I’m a free girl
So happy that I gave it a whirl
Free girl, free girl, I’m a free girl
