Hanging darkness, thick enough to touch Its hungry arms wrapped about me Holding fast, holding tight I struggle against its relentless grip Yearning to free myself from its restraint Imprisoned, enslaved No key, no strength Powerless against my captor The choking stench of my fears engulf me Withering my weakened resolve Tearing at my tortured soul Wait, is that a light I see? That welcome flash of brilliance As the door to my horrible tomb flings open The tentacles of the terrible darkness release me Slither in retreat to the shadows Your angelic voice bids me, come out Your enchanting fragrance arouses my long-slumbered mind For now, for once Awake, alert The cumbersome fog now gone I see what you have known all along My prison was inside my head And I, my only warden With you, at last Free.
