Fragility
He was an intimate friend for years
We shared times so good and so bad
Stood steadfast always for each other
His visible liking for me made me glad.
When his life treated him real rough
I helped unsolicited all the way through
Thought for him that was good enough
In dire times what a friend should do.
Sometime later when I got seriously sick
Needed help of someone I deemed close
Wanted my friend to be by my side quick
But the time he said he would choose.
Sadly he didn’t show his face ever again
His behavior bamboozled me awhile
Let down confused I failed to ascertain
Why human relations are so very fragile.
