Fox

Moonlight glistens on snow and he's stalking, slyly slinking, belly-cresting coverts to the coop. Silence his canopy, hugging the hedgerows to safeguard his cover, with death in his eyes. Silence is shattered, the virgin white snow is be-spattered; no mercy is shown, no quarter is given. Silence settles again, he retires, hunger sated; he'll forage again when his craving dictates.

..then I'd come on here, with only half my wits, and made a comment. I'm sure John was aware, he commented back..then I started to smile and get giddy. I hadn't been enjoying my miserable moments of the day, until he questioned me about my comment.:) John has a good soul, Keith, as you have also. Next time I have to crawl around in the basement like a crab, I'll wait until I feel more alert! Merry Christmas...wishing you so the best! God bless you and yours! Love, Mikki

Hiya Keith!:)) Well, loving this as much as when it was first read. Foxes are fascinating, small pointed faces and great bushy tails, one might wonder how they could stay agile and balanced. John..6 comments, I'm most fortunate! Has great integrity, foresight, and is very wise. I was so sure he'd caught me off guard with my comment last night. Tried all day to put up the gawky tree. When we'd pulled off the string that camoflaged its shape, I thought it looked like Archie's Jughead.....cont..:)

"Hugging the hedgerows" I love that personification! It brings a nice balance to the piece, almost a juxtaposition. The death which the fox causes, but then the soft and gentle (though stalking) side of the creature. Wonderful! Nathaniel

You've gotta respect the crafty beasts. our neighbors have free roaming chickens, and I have grown quite fond of them! But, such is the circle. you can write no wrong, my talented friend, love Kristin

Cool sounding words. I remember one time when I was living in Florida and I trapped a fox. It kept stealing the pet peacock eggs every year. I had to call the conser vation officer to come and get it...it took me several days before he brought the trap back. He just took it some where and turned it loose. I'm new here. this place is nice. great job....Lawrence in Lou. Ky.

Awesome write. Very good images in this. I love nature. Thanks for the advice. It is sensible but difficult to do because my methods of contact are limited. It is a fairly new friend and I sincerely think that it is someone I want to get to know because their friendship has become important. First time in years I feel like there may be hope. Things have been bad for a long time. Thanks again. Love Robin
