Four Long Years
It’s been four years since we’ve seen each other face to face,
But I know we’ll be together again soon enough.
The adoption was hard, but it gave us a little space.
Getting back into a routine may be a bit rough.
I know I was young and I made a few mistakes,
But I feel I’ve grown a lot mentally since then.
A little forgiveness and difference that it makes
Would mean the world to me and I would feel loved again.
I have a recurring dream that I hope will come true.
It’s about you and me when we stay up really late.
We play games and do the things mothers and daughters do.
I hope my prayers will be answered before I turn eight.
