FOREVERMORE - POTD

His heart overflowed with tears
As he watched her sleep
She was so frail and thin now
His inner being weeped

Together and in love since teenagers
She was ninety now….he ninety two
She was dying and the end was near
They knew what they wanted to do

She opened her eyes
Met his eyes and smiled
“Cup of tea my sweet ?” he asked
“It won’t be a while”

They sipped their tea slowly
Then lay down together in their bed
He cradled her in his arms
Kissed her gently on her forehead

She whispered “ l love you and will forevermore”
He softly echoed the same words 
They kissed tenderly on the  lips
Smiling they closed their eyes….not another word was heard!

They were both gone ……

Wow to die together at the exact same time with no suffering. That would be the best way to leave one's body. Congrats on the POTD

In the book and movie, The Notebook" the couple did the same thing. The person who wrote the book said it was about his grandparents and was true. Thanks for sharing your work with us and for dropping by my page with congratulations on my POTD. Sara K

A situation that, while incredibly sad, will later be considered by others as romantic. How many couples would choose such a peaceful shared passing. Many, is my guess. Huge congrats on POTD, Deb.

Congratulations on your POTD for this sensitive and beautiful poem! Seriously beautiful. My sweetheart and I have been together for so long, since marrying in our teens. We said from our earliest moments we wanted to die together and buried together in each other's arms. This poem made me cry, so sweet! You so deserved this honor!!
