Forever
Forever

Day after day I’m now harassed by pain,
The repayment for abundance and lifestyle;
I’ve miniscule accomplishments and little gain,
But a loving wife has made it all worthwhile.
In youthful times I thought I’d live forever,
But one day, for me, forever will arrive.
With my last breath a just God will sever,
Me from this life and into earth’s archive;
Leaving only my memory to shortly endure,
For that too, in time, will wither and pass.
As my years mount life is losing its allure,
But a new home awaits and will be first class.
