For This Time of the Year

A cold wintry day in mid-April The weatherman says it's uncommon, Temperatures ought to be much higher For this time of the year. Storms sweeping across the south Millions of people endangered by winds, Experts tell us the climate is changing For this time of the year. Average Joe is ignoring all the warnings Some say it’s a cyclical, recurring event, But never a time in all earth’s history For this time of the year. More pollution, destruction of nature— Unknown in previous millennia of time Makes no difference, it’s happening For this time of the year. Time will come when it will be too late To reverse the course of manmade events, Too late to recover the warming season For this time of the year. Polar bears know ice floes are melting, Migration patterns are interrupted, Humans proceeding with benign neglect For this time of the year.

Polar bears know "More pollution, destruction of nature—" sadly, they are rapidly dying.

Yes, and they are such beautiful animals.

If the animals are noticing the changes in weather patterns, then we should be even more so. Your powerful poem is a wake up call, my friend. Blessings, Evelyn

I'm sure they are, although they would not realize what is happening. I hope it is, but I have my doubts. If they won't listen to the experts on climate, they surely won't listen to me. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Evelyn. I appreciate you.
