For the Earth

Jayhook lived a simple life
                   A bit carefree, he wandered
Perhaps, somewhat detached, many folks might say
He welcomed what was offered
                   never thinking of the world
And though the man was kind of heart
                                  he seldom thought of others

Enlightenment does come for some
and hence, he noticed his terrain
With years of clutching bounty past
                      repayment was at hand
To squander gifts was not his end
and so he made a pact
And such was Jayhook’s bargain with the earth
