For Now They Hide
Bark stripped from a tree blowing in the wind
Airplane stripes high across the deep blue sky
Clouds racing as if wanting to rescind,
Any blockage of sunlight going by
All in my view, walking along the street
Where snow still hugs the curbs, as if to cling
To the security of the concrete
Until, overpowered by the change of spring
The flowers are patient as we must be
In these last gasps of cold, fresh, air outside
Replaced by warmth and sweet plant’s fragrance
To look forward to, while for now they hide
