For Charleston
For Charleston
I lifted up prayers on a sparrow's wing;
When I heard what happened in old Charleston town.
I thought I heard the voices of angels sing;
Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound.
As I looked to the sky, my eyes filled with tears;
My heart was heavy with pain.
Wanting to see signs to appear;
That we would see you all again.
A voice cried out to forgive;
Do not let hate be our legacy.
So that we may continue to live;
On Heaven's Bright Shores we are free.
Don't taint our memories with hatred;
In peaceful harmony unite.
For I go now to my Father's house;
I can now see the light.
Choose to stand together;
And soon you too will see.
That a new day will come;
Let there be Peace In The Valley For Me.
