Flying Kingdom
Once upon a time of more than 100,000 moons ago; a time before bees
or birds were seen in the blue skies. Many bright sunrises and breathtaking
sunsets ago, there was an eagle rapidly walking across the dusty barren land
which offered no kindnesses of friendships nor food for himself and his family.
But he continued as usual, walking eager and gingerly until he came upon an area that was pristine and overwhelmingly beautiful. He was immediately
mesmerized but even more energized by sights he'd never seen and sounds
he'd never heard before. He looked up and around and beheld snow-capped
mountain peaks that took his breath away. He said to himself, "I believe I
can fly! I believe I can rise so high above and touch the snow".
He quickly caught himself, making sure no one else heard him because there
was no telling what his family would think of him making a statement like that.
But inside his soul, he continued, "I, I, I believe. Something inside me says, "I can". "But what would ever become of my family? I cannot leave them
behind and below". So he decided to first at least attempt to make his dream and desire a reality, after which he would teach his family to fly and one day,
he envisioned that the whole bird kingdom would also fly but none as high as he and other eagles.
So early one morning, he excused himself from his family and started his usual rapid-pace walking. He started walking faster than he had ever walked before and next thing he knew, he was running with occasional lifting of his feet higher than normal off the ground. He smiled and said, "I believe I can fly", and a smooth flowing wind whispered to the eagle and said, "Let's do it together". Then suddenly the eagle felt the power of the wind beneath his wings like never before and the wind whispered to him again saying, "Spread your wings my friend and let's together ascend that snowcapped mountain far above the valley floor, the streams, creeks, lakes, and rivers".
So, boys and girls, long ago, that's how the bird kingdom first began to fly.
It all began when one fast walking eagle said, "I believe I can fly!"
