Flyboys Dream In Azure

Dedicated to the Red Tails/Tuskegee Airmen They said that this was all in err, at governmental pleasure. But you took on a challenged dare cause flyboys dream in azure. They said the colored man can’t use the white machinery. But your intelligence soon proved this to be bigotry. They said you just did not possess a fighter pilot’s stature. Trial and test could not suppress your unsung dreams in azure. They said you’d break and go half mad in combat as a flier. Yet glad to see RED were white lads in bombers under fire. They said that you were different. "Have the coloreds for good measure." Like all pilots, you bravely went cause flyboys dream in azure. 2/20/18

Breathtaking tribute, Janis! You did this important historical subject great justice. Those men sure were bravehearts ... not talking 'bout the flying machine part. I'm saying having to deal w/the inhumane prejudice. Stunning and informative write. I love history. I love history of all culture, but esp. black history, naturally. Love and smiles always.

A great tribute to the Tuskegee Airmen during World War 2, Janis. I Read a lot about their merits and I was proud to salute General Benjamin Davis during pass and review as an airman in the 50's. My compliments!

O Janis. Racism makes me want to throw up. Disgusting that your poem is based on reality. Well done though.
