Flowing Down the River
I am a rose, plucked and placed
into the swirling river of this life
flowing ‘tween currents and eddies
through rocks and quiet streams.
At times, I plunge down waterfalls
rife with tears and suffering
at times, the waters become calm
offering rest and respite.
I float through the streams of time
until the end, when the river runs dry
until God reaches down and lifts up
my soul, in the rapture of this life.
