Maestro woodpecker taps his beat
to the symphony of a rising sun,
casting rays on Tomoka Pond.
Great white heron, the prima ballerina,
strikes her pose
as blue herons pirouette.
An ibis takes flight with grace
as a tri-colored heron waltzes,
displaying multi-hued plumage.
Even the nesting wood stork
adds his cries to the harmonious melody,
echoing through rising mist in pristine wetlands.
Peace and poise reign
until the predatory osprey swoops across the stage,
causing other birds to scatter.
Even a basking gator’s eyes
rise to observe the flutter of wings.
Only the great white heron remains composed.
