Flinching Happens

I have lived my entire life suppressing squeamish hurls.
My cringe that never ends startles, falters and recoils.

I would like people's internal body substances properly contained
but cannot even escape vile as piled by family and pets in upsets.

Slithering, slimy reptiles are so very, entirely ugly
their looks even hurt the feelings of their mommy's.

Televised close-ups of intrusive surgeries are so yucky
I must close my eyes to keep funky from my tummy.

Someone screaming terror, alive and sobbing in a coffin,
puts my sanity through a horrendous, endless haunting.

In public I cringe straight to furious seething when
an adult fist threatens an innocent little her or him.

Flinching happens, sometimes accompanied by a scream
and while it's not great, it at least validates my heart rate.

'CayCay, Congratulations on your win! "Someone screaming terror, alive and sobbing in a coffin, puts my sanity through a horrendous, endless haunting." That is enough to make anyone flinch. David

Nicely done, CayCay! First Place! Especially and truly a fist or any in your face terror aimed at a child!

WHOO HOOOOO. WE both won with good placements, but you are at the TOP!!! So happy for you. I feel exactly the same way as you do from how you explain what makes you flinch.

Wow CayCay...I so agree on every count! I hate to see little children cry from harsh discipline and hate the way they zoom in on bugs though I love watching nature programs. A great entry for the contest my friend. Hugs, Connie xxoo

The reasons in your poem for flinching and feeling squeamish are a "ditto" of me - everything you have mentioned causes the same reaction in my body - so well thought out and explanatory my friend - very well done, excellent! Hugs, Jennifer.
