'flimsy Words'

I would wipe them away if I could, the words I uttered in anger. Tainted you, now a stranger, I pushed you to the floor so flimsy the words I’m sorry, but spoken from my pierced heart. 5th place Contest: Apology Accepted Sponsor: Barbara Gorelick © All Rights Reserved December 2010

Oh Wilma. This is one of my favorites in this contest. I love the feel, the way it's written and the truth in all the words. Nothing superfluous or insincere or padded about this stark and utterly honest work. Congratulations. Best wishes, Deb

You sure brought the word "regret" to the table with this one, missy but I think that "sorry" is also heartfelt-- what we say at the heat of the moment can truly shatter but hopefully can still be mended by saying sorry-- good one-- and happy to drop by here-- I hope your day's been good :) hugs to you -- nikko :)

This is an excellent poem, you used the Nonet form beautifully, and I enjoyed it, and those final lines "my pierced heart" that said it all, best of luck in the contest

Your words are anything but flimsy, Wilma. Especially when you write them as beautifully as these. Good luck in the contest. Hope you are having a great holiday season. Dan C

People who are hurting hurt other people..Good one in this short work...Good that one would be willing to apologize but hurting words are usually right on bull's eye and don't go away..Your presence at my work always lifts my spirits..Sara

Wilma, you asked what inspired me, no flattery ... life's situations that web people like birds with broken wings ... and you still, for when you set a standard that says ... stay up here.
