First Words
People’s judgement flows quickly, freely
Opinions I didn’t ask for, so why’d you offer, really?
Are you sure it’s because it had to be said?
Burdens you want to share and spread?
Unworthy am I, however, to hold onto this.
To let your worthless words have me drown
Be weighed down because of you and your frown.
Carried for years, buried in tears,
For one who hears, memory is seared.
Too long though to be weighed by what is nothing
Long ago I should have known, I don’t need you to be something.
