First Decoration of the Season

The beautiful wreath hangs upon the door,

Upon the door to greet all.

All who see it will have to smile,

  Smile as they recall.

Recall how festive the season will be,

Will be for one and all.

All it took was a wreath on a door,

A wreath on a door in the hall.

I like the way you have taken one word from each line, and used it in the next line. You have simple and easy to read wording that yields quite a bit of descriptiveness.

Francine, I think you can still enter this one. See Dr. Ram's latest blog. My original "wreath" poem didn't have the continuing words (and I don't think he had a problem with that), but he told me to shorten it to eight lines. Thanks for your kind words. Love, Carolyn

You rose so well to this challenge, Francine, and you did it perfectly to meet Dr. Ram's requirements. Your poem shows how the holiday wreath brings joy to your visitors. I think this is just what Dr. Ram wants to see and it made me smile to read it. Thanks for your comment on mine. I had to change it to fit the contest. Love, Carolyn
