First Love

FIRST LOVE Her voice was as a bell tolled in soft motion Chiming with her laughter Trembling every liquid emotion Till it overflowed its banks hereafter And surged out, a new energy limitless, Into the dimmed world, with perfume From flowers blooming in my wilderness From my dammed stream’s unblocked flume And the stars shone anew As the tears of joy and emancipation Flowed more urgent, glistening dew On the petals of adoration.
