Matthew 20:16 (KJV) So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen. He was the first to hide Beneath the fig leaves, in the forest Where she hid with him, Secreting the sin they’d just committed He was the first to die The first to be murdered The first to know demise The first to pass into eternity He was the first to kill His brother, the one he should have Loved, protected, sheltered Without jealousy or covetousness He was the first to build A boat who could carry them all Away from the destruction, The waters brimming with darkness He was the first to make it Through the sea – walls of water Rising on either side of them As they walked on the dry ground He was the first to try To kill the giant with only a stone, He Killed the one who tormented With his promises to massacre them all He was the first to die Then come back to life, revived By the One who created the sky – First to know what it is like… To rise from the tomb in time To save the believers Who know that His grace and love Will someday bring them into heaven!

A FAV for my list, Gina. A beautiful poem acknowledging many great souls throughout history that were first, but last was the greatest of all, for He gave His life that we may have eternal life. Praise be to God the father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit! Thanks for sharing your biblical knowledge with us through your poetry my friend. Smiles ~ Blessings Bill
