Cruel Twist of Fate

"Tap! Tap! Tap!" on the wrist of a collapsed comatose man. Then a prolonged pressure; feeling for a pulse... nothing. The paramedic proceeds CPR... "one one thousand! two one thousand! three one thousand!" Again, he feels nothing, He listens to the man's chest attentively, as close as close could possibly be, to feel his breath in his ear... Nothing, no heartbeat. The man is dead. He's frozen in shock and disbelief. He saves lives every day, yet couldn't save his own father. The cruelest of ironies. Date Written: 06/21/2020
