Finding a Space

It was a brave decision To leave the bar of my dreams For something better I'd been awoken One night in Belfast A few tick boxes weren't ticked So on we moved In search Three songs in To what can't be described As my spiritual home My face, was reported to be, like thunder Then something written in chalk "Live music 7 days a week" But it's called 'The Thirsty Goat' We step inside I was encouraged to get seats In the packed place Due to having the Venturesomeness required Near to the band was a gap The booth of dreams Dance floor proximity And comfort "Hey, can I squeeze in here?" I've never been so welcomed! By a lass from Dundee, previously denied of a seat herself had things to prove I beckoned over my friends In we piled Feeling the love Awaiting the band's first note I love Galway Girl! My hair is almost black My eyes are blue I was taking a whirl Three hours of "I love this one!" Brilliance Boxes ticked I love to rediscover myself Always fearing I'm lost But there I am In the right place at the right time I dance with all of me No reluctance Guinness imbribriation Infused joy

Thank you. I can almost smell the dried beer on the dance floor. I loved your rediscovering of yourself as you dance with all of your being. If I make a suggestion I don't think you don't need Guinness to bring all of you to the table. You are fine the way you are. Bravo.

I was in Belfast, so a bit of Guinness was ok. I had enough exuberance to have managed Guinness free though. External validation glee of anything I asked for being sang as soon as I asked for it despite going a bit leftfield and asking for things like Creep haha thanks for your comment :)

It's so easy to remain in our comfort zones isn't it? Did you find the right place that night or did it find you? And..are you Scottish or is the lady singing Scottish? Most important of all though, I hope you let the Black Stuff stand for the right amount of time. Love the write. Cheers - Gary

Thanks Gary, I'm Mancunian - the Scottish lady had had a snooty retort to sharing a table, so welcomed me with open arms to prove a point - so brilliant timing! To be fair I requested a good number of the songs, so we made it the right place :) (Irish band)

Ah Dilly you can't beat live music in a pub. Ive always found my spoken word efforts welcomed s well. As for Guiness friendship?? Have pledged my undying love and fealty after the odd pint or 7 oof Liffy Water. Nice atmospheric poem. Took me back years and places. Thank you.

Thanks Terry, written a couple of hours after going to bed and I'm still in the "I've gotten away with" fresh as a daisy, part of the morning haha hopefully the hangover respects that I sipped water before going to bed :)
