Final Exit
If this was the last day of my life,
Would I be interested in someone's advice?
Would I do my best to be better than nice?
Would I say 'I love you' more than twice?
If, not tomorrow, but today, was my last one,
Would I face it boldly and without stun?
Would my face portray a smile,
Or one as long as the Nile?
Would I feel as one free from guild,
Or as one guilty and facing trial?
If today was indeed my very last,
Would I end it with poise, peace, and class?
Although my body will wither like the grass,
My spirit will rise, setting me free at last.
And would this my exit be taken with The Christ,
Or will I be departing with some religious device?
