Figures of Speech

Words, a painted canvas, plain and true, then twisted, turned a different point of view. A river's mouth but no lips to consume, a mountain's foot where no shoes find their room. Time, a thief, that steals the golden days, while love, a fire, in a hazy, tender maze. The sun, a lion, roaring in the sky, a silent scream where truths and fictions lie. A metaphor, a bridge of whispered thought, where worlds collide and new meanings are caught. A simile's grace, a gentle, soft compare, like velvet touch or wind through tangled hair. Personification's breath in objects cold and still, where stones can weep and lonely shadows spill. Hyperbole's roar, a grand, exaggerated plea, a thousand years, to simply set us free. Irony's sharp sting, a bitter, hidden jest, where smiles conceal what hearts cannot digest. Figures of speech, a dance of subtle art, to paint the soul and tear the world apart. To bend the language till it starts to gleam, and find the poetry within a waking dream. ©bfa032725
