Fever

i was dancing
    on a rainbow
when she called me in to eat
    i had no appetite
so i rolled over
                             and continued to
                                     sleep
my eyes
are haunted
my ribs
are showing
                       sweating
                             into my cold
                                   coffee
my dreams are awake
i feel their madness
are the drugs working? i wonder
where the hell did that rainbow go?
i just put on my boogie shoes
my heart
is pulsing
in time
with my head
                         i need to throw up

i spill my guts
like a south side snitch
he went that a way officer
   i think i forgot
              to flush the toilet
she's going to think i'm disgusting

                        my lungs are heaving
                             with pollutants
                                 burning
                                               cold fire
i need a
cigarette
              there is a light outside
                    my window
i think the rainbow has come back for me
                                 my feet are shaking

i'm definitely going to throw up

This is may be different but, within these finely molded lines lies the true poet, and you are that indeed good friend.
