Feeding My Creativity
dreams flooded in my youth-
days when I was still trying to figure out who
I was and what gifts God bestowed onto me;
I was ten when I discovered I could write-
wanted to write.
loved to write.
needed to write.
a couple years later I started drawing to
ignore the echoes of youthful transgressions;
etches of a life I wished I had,
ebony paint lining brushes,
canvas wearing beauty and darkness-
hues of beautiful scars spread across an easel…
(making me who I am today)
I never really had proper schooling for my gifts-
they come as natural as the autumn’s chilled breeze,
I know this,
and I feel blessed.
turning forty is really hitting me hard-
what have I done with my life?
accomplishments
awards
conquests
so I took these weary arthritic hands and started
creating a new form of art I never could have
imagined I would embrace.
I found my late sister’s tool chest and began a whole new life
(a life of purpose)
hammer and nails
screws and driver
saw and wood-
my new artistic hobby is building personalized
wood signs for family and friends.
I have one reason why I do what I do today-
to see the felicity on the face of a loved one;
my artwork is spread across the world
Canada
Philippines
India
and
15 states in the US
my favorite artist is I,
for I have many a gift in me-
with hands of strength and inspiration
feeding my creativity.
