Fauna's lost and found

(Google cecil lion murder)
Some satanic soul committed awful regicide
Of Cecil, prided King of the Jungle
And that has left behind his bereaved pride
And his offspring in bloody danger
For Cecil the royal majesty of the Game reserve
Has been the victim of crazy murder!

Round the world poaching goes on.
To purses of leather
one lost its skin
One lost its feather
to hats and decors
Another lost its fur
to those mink coats
One lost its tooth
to ivory bangles gosh!

Many lost their lives
to heartless hunters
Not only are they
on animal property encroaching
They are selfishly and greedily
also poaching
Alas! Alas! Alas!
Woe to that cut throat
fine and fancy fur coat
They lost it all to ruthless
merciless, thoughtless poachers
And even if this lost was found later
and confiscated by officers
Still how do you restore
this lost and found
to their rightful owners?
How do you return
a severed tusk to the elephant?
Fur to the lynx cat?
Skinned skins to the python?
Or ripped feathers to the peacock?
And how do you restore life
to the poor dead fauna
As long as poaching is rife
Relax not in beach or sauna.

Peep at them through binoculars
instead of through guns
Shoot 'em' with cameras
instead of weapons
O' hunters shun hunting
with darned shotguns!

Hear hear, what an electric poem and how sad is its content, I have also written poems quite a few, on this ruthless heartless topic, poachers should be sought out as they seek. So well written, loved it and your so positive stance that you have taken, as did I. TWO POEMS THAT COME TO MIND ARE GREEDY POACHING AND ELEPHANTS GHOST. Hugs, Jennifer.

Hello Zaynab, a brilliant write on a plight that needs bringing to light. Humankind has a lot to answer for. Nicely done. Have a great weekend my friend.

There is a line to be drawn..' Death though is part of existence ( in a fallen world!) What is the answer.? None definitive.' Yet education would help as Regarding rino horns.' Tiger teeth etc and 'the vastly uverrated values placed upon them can be derided..I sm zn omnivore..I eat various types of food Animal meat being one.' I know that should there be a great lessening of Cattle meat eating therecwould be many types going extinct.' There must be a caring husbandry ethos that allows a lifespan

Yes balanced hunting for food is ok but trophy hunting just for fun should be banned and some wild animals just shouldn't be eaten. Thanks for comment,

That is healthy animal lifespan lived To fullness results in decrepitude.' They have a place in lifes cycle, its not perfect Yet we are all in the flesh..When we are perfect there will be no death at all.'

I loathe poachers my friend and if they have the heart to look an animal in the eye and then kill it, its murder in the first degree. I have written several poems on poaching and think this poem of yours is priceless and should be printed in all the safari and wild life magazines. Kudos - an excellent write. Blessings, Jennifer.

Zaynab, thanks for directing me here. Yes, why does this happen? Is it for the money? Is it for the thrill of the hunt and kill? In the meantime, our planet is being damaged and we will all eventually suffer for that. Thanks for writing about this.

Hi poet Duke, thanks for your support against these animal rights abuses. Indeed we all suffer when we make anything/ anyone suffer, sooner or later,

It's a terrible thing to kill lovely animals. it breaks my heart that humans are so cruel. We're also killing them as we kill our Earth. It makes you wonder what humans are even doing here. Thank you for writing about this tragedy that continues...

Sadness washed over me as I read your poem. Poaching is a terrible blight! I appreciate your sharing and liked your recommendation in the last verse. Seems like animals should be cherished, for they are God's creatures. Am following you now...
