Notes About The Poem

Fate and Destiny

How mischievous those goddesses of fate
That bend our paths toward our destiny
They tempt us, setting traps, with diff'rent bait
Like fools, we complicate simplicity

Each turn we take is draped in mystery
A lucky choice builds up our confidence
Then fate reminds us, oh so subtly
Again, we're on the wrong side of the fence

The twists and turns of life offer suspense
We see our big break up around the bend
But fate knows that for love, there's no defense
Next thing you know, you've turned down a dead end

Fate has control of destiny it seems
Don't let that stop you chasing down your dreams

Hello Daniel, I need to get by more often as I can to read your poetry. Belated Congratulations are in certainly in order for POTW!! I've written both Shakespearean and Petrarchan sonnets, but not yet a Spenserian. I've written about Fate and Destiny in the past, and I really like your presentation here replete with all of the nuances. Your closing couplet says it all. "Dreams" are a very important aspect of our human dimension. Superb Work!! A FAVE IN MY BOOK!! Cheers and Best, Gary

Thank you, Gary. There are so many great poets on this site, it is impossible to read every poem. I never take offense when people do not read. There are only so many hours in the day. I appreciate your kindness:)

Great. Your poem reminds me of a line from Leonhard Cohen '...there is no cure from love...'.

We control our own destiny through choices made...not always the right ones, but we have to keep dreaming. This is excellent, Danny.

There is a different between Love and what you desire in love. A love to last, and a love you just desire in you. We done mistakes because of this unbalance self of what we want and what is good. We can determine between the two. Your emotion spoke towards your experienced. There is so much ahead.Thank you so much for sharing.
