In twilight's hush, where shadows danced with night, We lay, two souls, in discordant delight, Our careers, a triumph, radiant with light, Yet love, a flame that flickered, lost its might. The dawn's intrusion brought unwelcome sight, I saw the shadows hide, and darkness take flight, In dreams, I wept for love that could not be, And moved the darkness from my eyes to see The room, in all its glory, I beheld, Except for you, my love, who stood apart, so cold, In union, we were separate, hearts untold, In harmony, a discordant, final hold.
