Fantasy Spy

Fantasy Spy Would that I, like a Monarch butterfly, Could fly across the fertile land and spy, Top tree and lilac bush in the evening hush, Swooping down above the late traffic crush. Then on to foamy shores I would wander, Over firs and pines, dark forests below, With graceful freedom across the sunset, Over Key West’s mansion and beach to go. I would see a pirate ship in the sea, Rushing rudders futilely try to flee. Storm clouds over thatched roofs on the Goal Coast, Colorful dancers, busy merchants’ boasts. Would that I like a Monarch butterfly, Could fly across our wonder world and spy

You are the right butterfly: Monarch, that do a miraculous trip from Canada to Mexico. But they need 3 generations to do the to-and-fro, as they live a few months each, you know. Thanks for this beauty! Anil Deo

Thank you, Anil. Sometimes when they're migrating, many of them cluster in my backyard. What a sight!

Hi Sunlite, An excellent write from your pen. A sonnet that sings into the mind, painting such wondrous images. This has to be a seven and a fave. Hugs....Mike. XX

What a dreamy flight you took us along sunlite :-) To be free to roam amongst the most stunning places nature offers is sublime. That you used a 'Monarch Butterfly' to be our guide, magnifies the scenery. Incredibly beautiful writing :-) blessings

I've socked this away to look at later tonight. Our power has been off for two days - a nightmare!

You are so right - they are unusually beautiful, and especially when they arrive in many clusters. Thank you so much.

Such a light and airy poem that expresses a freedom to fly, to explore, to see everything there is to see that many of us only dream of. This was beautiful my friend.
