That's true love! Jan, your poem is inspiring and deeply moving. This describes my beloved mother beautifully. Our family revolved around her home fire always burning, and I follow the tradition with my family as well, though she is a tough act to follow... ah, such sweet memories.. your poem brings me back to simpler and cherished times. Congratulations for your wonderful win in Eve's contest.. ~Susan

Isn't that the truth, Jan! Mu "Gran" was always the last one to eat, to go to bed or get ready for an occasion - always putting everyone else before her needs! A beautiful tribute to loving "Grans" everywhere. PS - my grandchildren call me Gran or Dede. hugs and blessings!

This picture reminds me of the books we were given to read in Grade one and two, which incidentally (KG 1 & 2) I did in Tauton, England before we moved to Rhodesia, Bulawayo. We always have a mental picture of are Grandmas. My English Grandma lived in Leeds, Yorkshire, I visited her 3 times on all my holidays to the UK. She died at 96 years of age, but unfortunately she lost a son, my father, 4 years before she died - he had cancer. Hugs and love, Jennifer.

ah yes, the old-fashioned grandmother! you've captured her perfectly in your poem, jan! (the current one is agonizing over remote learning and navigating zoom to help with the homework...)

My aunt was amazing at catering for people who dropped in - one day they had an unexpected guest so my aunt 'fashioned' a pork chop for herself out of bread and covered it in gravy and gave the person her meal. - how unselfish is that!:-) hugs jan xx
