Fame Whore

My songs know what you did in the dark. Destroying your body like it’s a work of art. By taking pills and binging on booze Our daughters make themselves weak and out of the loop. They slice their skin and skip out on dinner All for the sake of being thinner and thinner. To fit the stereotypical, masochistical mold that encompasses our psyche We tell our daughters they gotta be a size 0 with nice curvy hips or else they’re a dyke. If our sons aren't buff and bench-pressing the max, we simply shake our heads and call them whack. The TV becomes the parent The parent takes the backseat, as a memory to morals unseen. Anorexic models and famous athletes flash across the screen. See kids, this is the dream. All you gotta do now is throw away your hopes, and disown those who hold you dear. Ah, now I see I have your ear. I feed off your fear. Old age is near, and look at you. You look so *****. Sell your soul for fame and acceptance Tomorrow’s too late to beg for repentance. The lights burn your skin, the flash make you nervous But didn't you earn this? Thousands scream your name, you got your fame, but you feel maimed, drained, and strained. Spread your legs wide and lay on your back So I can hack and hack and hack at your soul. By tomorrow morning you’ll be begging for more. You’re just a whore. You realize it now? Down to your core, There’s nothing more. You’re just a fame whore...
