Fame

She longed for significance
To stand out from the three billion
Her name
Her name
On the lips of the multitudes
Her beauty celebrated
Hushed whispers when she walked through a room

A big deal
From a small town
Beauty queen
Young guys dream
Adored
A fantasy
Breathy beauty
Bombshell
Blonde perfection

Her need for love
Paramount
Essential
Paralyzingly
Never enough
Insatiable
Lost
Sweet yet fierce
Detrimentally driven

She wanted love
Hearts
A nation
The world
The moon

Strong men
Could not hold her
Mr. president
Couldn't stop her decent
A risen star
In death did fall
Alone
Mourned
Along with jimmy Dean
Elvis
Michael jackson
She stood out
From the Billions
A household name
What a shame
We adored
Idolized
Perhaps
Yes perhaps
We
Us
Are to blame

Her life
Her fame
That name
Left behind
Flickering on screens
Unreachable
Not her
The real woman we'll never know
Breathy beauty
Bombshell
Blonde perfection
Loved

You wrote this years ago but i recently watched the new 2022 movie "blonde" its crazy i am just stumbling upon this now, and i must say every line is true, the flowing theme is superb, ...more than the movie captured, .. Enjoying your poems Richard...you are one of the authentic ones i must state for the record if there was none at all before..

Richard This is a write that pulls the reader in. Lot of emotion and heart from beginning to end. Wonderful ode to this lost soul star.

She was really alone and desperate and also scared, perhaps...Very naive too, I guess... Fame needs strong preparation too, to face the public while protecting intimacy, I guess... Thanks for the touching write, gentle man! Hugs, Hanitra

Write what you feel in the moment, nothing else. You did. You did it so damn well sir. "Paralyzingly"..."Perhaps we, us, are to blame"...yup! A great read!

I wonder if in today's world she would have achieved the same level of fame. Things are so different today and there are so many like like her. I think these famed people were very talented, but I always thought some of them were far too idolized! Even Elvis, though I adored him!! I enjoyed this one, Richard.

Norma Jean.....Sad end....still an unsolved mystery....No one could see past her outer beauty to her lonely heart. You captured that essence of Marilyn Monroe perfectly....Candle in the Wind....Turbulent life....Fantastic write, Richard
