Fall - Sweet Lass

A Constanza (in Connie's own precious poetry form) written in tribute to this amazing friend and poet:

A lass so beautiful is she,
and like a dear friend I recall,
she brightens our world, for she’s Fall!

Like golden leaves on friendship’s tree -
when spring, then summer, we see pass -
for a short while stays this sweet lass.
.
So very beautiful to me,
she’s wistfulness and so much more -
an old friend that I’m longing for.

Her moments oh so quickly flee.
Then death arrives as Winter’s frost.
yet memories are never lost.

Within her grace again I’ll be,
for Fall may pass, but even then,
sweet lass – my friend – I’ll see again.

A lass so beautiful is she -
like golden leaves on friendship’s tree -
so very beautiful to me.
Her moments oh so quickly flee.
Within her grace again I’ll be.

Heya Andrea I’m delighted to see your Connie tribute as No1 in the best new poems list, an unassuming personal reflection of her life, the friendship is tangible and from the heart, as indeed it was in many of the tribute poems I read about her, nobody ever wants to write these poems, they would rather her still here, but that’s what poets do, cheers David

“For she’s Fall” Such a beautiful line, Andrea. I am glad to see it also made POTD. I cried through most of the poems. I have had an awful flu for two weeks. It wasn’t Covid though. Love you. SuZ

Love your beautiful personification of Fall and your touching parallels with Connie... "for a short while stays this sweet lass"... too short, I say. "Then death arrives as Winter’s frost", another great line, and your quintain finale really sparkles. Happy to see this as POTD, thanks for keeping the flame of Connie's memory burning ~ John
