Fake
Sending me gems and old gold will not make me like you more
The tales about your fantastic journeys really are a bore
Passing only bologna is such an embarrassment to me
I know you only do it because I’m as credulous as can be
If you really want me to flower you with romantic praise
You’ll have to be honest with every exciting and colorful phrase
I know you like your strawberries with lots of sugar and cream
And never eat a bagel without a load of cream cheese in between
Maybe toning it down just a little for me now and then
Is not too much to ask of a girl trying to make a friend
