Faith

What is this thing
called, Divine Love?
I felt it strong, in a
fiery daze; touched by
it, though my mind and
soul feverishly ablaze!
Cooled was my beaded
brow -- and swear I heard,
Eternal Love is with you
now --

What is this thing called
Divine Light? Saw it bright
on a raging night. Bullets and
shrapnel fell every other member
of my troop -- suddenly, surrounded
me, a Divine loop -- and again, not
knowing why nor how...I heard a
voice -- Divine light is protecting
you now --

2 times I felt, all hope seemed
lost. 2 times I felt, life is
a gamble~ Pal, this time you have royally
lost! Stood before me, a demon, extending
his lethal claw. Not seeing from where, nor knowing
how -- again I heard, have faith~ be brave, My Son --
in the past, delivered you from evil I...and will not
forsake you now!

Faith is certainly tested in the darkest dark of war, but will we tune our ears to the Lord or listen to the laugh of the enemy. Some find their way afterwards. So hard. Spoke to a man at church yesterday…who said his dad hd these war demons..how he was told by an older sibling that their father was different before the war. Well done! A fave

Hi Kim; war changes people in ways unimaginable to those who have not served I would think. Thank you. Your FAV made my day! Your last comment on the Children of Gaza was deleted by mistake while I was answering Victor's comment...so, don't know what happened but thank you. Have a great writing day my friend.

Hi Joe; just my opinion. Faith is not a suit of armor, protecting one from fear, death or injury. But it does help one do what is necessary when called upon. It is a connection with God...many of us do not realize we have beforehand. Some great individuals, like Kirk, for example -- seem always consciously in touch.

Powerful narration, Joe. It's amazing how Divine Love and Light bail us out. They were with us all along, eh?

Hi Gershon; just something a believer knows. I have been bailed-out, so to speak, many times. And I wasn't even praying on those occasions. But did feel Divine Presence. Faith can protect us, feed us, give us a sense of security...but, those with deep faith, are also willing to serve in the desert, so to speak...if the situation calls for it -- be willing to go to the cross. Faith is a contract with Love.

This is filled with dramatic examples for the need of faith. I can feel your faith is strong indeed. Just curious. Have you been to war ? It would be so difficult to have faith in that situation.

For some it would not be difficult at all. No, I have not served in the military; but have taken loaded weapons from sick and twisted people. Could have very easily been killed. Really all I want to get into here. My experience, one does what he thinks is morally right at the time, what his heart compels him to do...does not dwell on the danger to self till afterwards. For me, it is never difficult to have faith...faith is not about surviving in my mind. Faith is mostly about serving.

Such esoteric experiences are not rare in people who have faith. God miraculously saves us from dangers. At certain times when we lose hope and about to lose faith, God intervenes. He doesn't want those who once adhered to faith to lose it. Joe, this is a great poem, sharing your experience.

Hi Valsa, not an actual experience of mine, just a fictional dramatization, though I can relate firsthand with dangerous moments and divine intervention.

your poem deeply touched me; it was engaging and enthralling especial the last stanza about 'the battlefield.' Well done, Joe. Well done.

Oh, gosh, this punched my emotions. The last stanza especially put me on the battlefield where soul, body and brain were overwhelmed, on autopilot and in hell. I'd like to KNOW that YOU DID HEAR HIM. If I did, watching others die, I'd wonder, had they heard Him, too and yet.... I wish I weren't an empath, so much to feel. A meaningful poem, Joe, as you can tell, it grabbed me, and I know I won't be able to shake it off for a while.

Hi CayCay; just a fictional dramatization. Though I am certain many have been in this type of situation, survived, to later wonder, why me? I have, personally been in some dangerous situations, and Divine light did indeed surround and protect. So, I can emotionally and spiritually relate. In this respect, it is not all writer's hot air. Blessings my friend.
