fairytale reflections

Sleep, beauty sleeps, in dreams she’s ensnared, Only a prince or beast can help, which has fate prepared? A kiss will tell, if the shoe will then bind, Prince or beast? Are they one in her mind? Fairy tales end, mere fantasies told, Both prince and beast dream alone and cold. Shadows of tales that once lit our youth, The prince with his charm, and the beast with his truth. Two hearts entwined, yet distant they dwell, In mirrors they search, for the same wish to tell. A beast in the night, a prince in the day, Will it be fear or love that keeps the beauty awake? She waits in her tower, her slumber so deep, For the one she chooses will be hers to keep. Not prince, nor beast, just a soul that’s akin, To the love she holds, in the grim world within. Fairy tales fade, as dawn’s light does too, Both prince and beast wake alone, so beauty will lose.
