Fading Glow of Summer
The beauty of the varnished moon,
a flame so wondrous to behold
with light surrounding trees and hills
in velvet ribbons of crimson-gold:
Though August beams illuminate
Along a ride over the sea
it mirrors this heat’s waning gleam
Diffusing one last potpourri.
Gone is the luster of summer’s blaze
just frail embers quivering low…
and melting like an ice cube tray
when Fall arrives without a glow.
Darkness comes with an epilogue,
Winds hush as the sun disappears
I open my secret box …empty ,
Till mild rain falls silent as tears.
