Faded Shadows
Shadows dancing on the wall
as candle flickers in the dark;
distant mem’ries I recall
of times when life was much less stark.
Days of wine and roses spent
along the crowded avenue;
strolling hand in hand, content,
while spending precious time with you.
Sitting at a small café,
a sidewalk table just for two;
sipping steaming hot latte
as folks passed by in life’s ado.
Then the tango felt so right;
we danced as dark began to fall;
candle flickered in the night;
our shadows danced upon the wall.
Then one day with love bereft,
dreams cast aside as you resigned;
faded shadows all that’s left,
these distant mem’ries in my mind.
