Faces Places
A film about a mismatched pair
Who travel throughout France
To photograph the folks they meet
Is one that just enchants.
They print the pictures jumbo-sized
And paste them onto spaces
Which normally possess a blankness
That their art replaces.
So water towers, freight trains, walls,
Containers meant for shipping
Get locals’ faces plastered on,
A concept I found gripping.
The English title, “Faces Places”
Hasn’t really captured
The magic of this movie, with which
I was quite enraptured.
