(Girl in Tibet, 2009) Faces of Death Like at birth The faces we make And meet at death Are not only our own But each unique Some of us go kicking and screaming Some passively sad and lonely Some with grim determination and Others, perhaps just the few, Go laughing While many more manage a smile. I know it’s easy to say and harder to do But I want to go like a kid Boarding a roller-coaster For one last thrilling ride. To say, even in silence, here we go “Weeeeeeee…” (10/13/23)
