Expertise
Aren’t we all repository of talents many?
Some of them may be hibernating snug.
But they wait eager to wake up,
At the opportune time like dormant buds,
At the first fond touch of spring.
Gardening is one of my areas of expertise.
But I don’t limit myself to it.
I try to discover new areas of interest.
I love art and painting and, in some eyes,
I am an expert in them too,
Though I see the word ‘expert’ overestimated
Expertise cannot be achieved overnight.
Constant practice makes one an expert.
As a child with a deep love for flowers,
The passion for gardening is embedded in my genes.
So, through trial-and-error method
I strive to be an expert at gardening.
I know what kind of manure, ideal for each plant.
Also, when to prune and when to use insecticides.
I love to experiment with different modes,
Of plant rearing like budding and grafting.
Now I own a small, beautiful garden,
With bunches of flowers nodding at me,
Day and night, in all weather.
Sometimes, after a night’s fitful sleep
Of haunting nightmares,
What pleasure it is to wake up
To the fiesta of colors!
When my garden beauties
Smile n’ wave at me, I wonder,
What magic is sealed within them,
As to quake my heart with,
A rush of exuberant delight,
Even when choked by some inexplicable pain!
