Exiting the Matrix

What is this strange place we find ourselves in Trapped in the open, we are free within” Free is to sit beside a fire, Free is to throw myself in Free is to go up in smoke Free is to burn away sin Free is to question reality Free is risking life and limb Trapped inside this body Trapped within a mind Trapped by pure creation Trapped by superior design Trapped behind the matrix Trapped I’m totally resigned What’s more I cannot tell you What’s more I’d lie to say What’s more I don’t understand What’s more I’ve lost my way What’s more I too bear a cross What’s more I live for today My conscience is so unclear My conscience sees only cloud My conscience is not willing My conscience remains unbowed My conscience plays these tricks My conscience is far from proud Truth is whatever I believe in Truth is I like getting things done Truth is I’m out of excuses Truth is I don’t have a gun Truth is I love all my family Truth is I feel worthy of none Death may bring me answers Death might be in vain Death the ultimate sacrifice Death by any other name Death might unlock a matrix Death will kill just the same By David Kavanagh

A rainbow of ideas and thoughts, a kaleidoscope of feelings, A cauldron of emotions, a melting pot of intense talent, mix this altogether and one will achieve a soulful, passionate write, as you have my friend. I also write how I feel at that moment. Hugs, blessings, Jennifer.

Way to go Jennifer, thank you so much for appreciating the approach I took in this one, I had a feeling it was not what the seeker wanted to hear, but hey I found it cathartic to write, cheers David

Hi, David, love this powerful rendering. Reminds me of how much this old man's path of life has changed, others may see an different coarse, but all in all, extremely telling poetry. Love it.

Heya Harry, sometimes we need to spell out exactly how we perceive life without lying to others and ourselves, I know the contest sponsor sees life differently, but this one can only be addressed by the individual, otherwise it’s just fictional and meaningless, imo, cheers David
